We Begin Anew

I call upon the faithful who live in this great land
to pray to our Creator and to rise and take a stand.

God-given rights we cherish are diminished day by day
by leaders we've elected that have led us all astray.

They do not have the answers to the troubles of our day.
They are, like us, mere humans who alone have lost their way.

Some have been corrupted by the power that they wield.
Today, dear faithful Army, we must now make God our shield.

Help us to look inside our hearts and face the faults we bear
and find that we are sinners, all, each time we failed to care.

We repent and ask forgiveness and a chance to start anew.
Grant to us the peace of Christ that comes from only you.

I thank you, Lord, for the opportunity to begin anew:

I pray that even the most flawed among us will be transformed by your grace for we know that very human being was created by your divinity and the longing of your heart is that each one of us will find our way to your loving arms and your promise of ultimate peace.

I confess that I have, at times, held malice in my heart toward those who have committed evil acts that caused great harm to the innocents who are most deserving of our concern. Take away my prejudices, and my desire for my own interpretation of justice. If the only thing we have to rely on is justice, not one of us will be spared.

No matter what I may, in haste, think or say, grant me the wisdom to see in all people the delight of humanity that I know is in your heart. I beg for every chance you choose to grant me, and I am grateful for the knowledge that as your child, I am loved. I welcome every joy, every sorrow, every bit of knowledge, every shred of grace.
